Date: 2017-03-22
Start: 10:47
Present: Doug, Frank, Matthias, Bodhi
Location: Harzgerode
Language: English

Outcomes:

  • AP: Discussion about sharing scarce resources regarding conflict/right/community/equality/acceptability.
  • Rough consensus: 'Please stop if you're asked to'
  • AP: Discussion about state intervention: Black-hat scenarios and decisions.
  • AP: Bodhi and Doug do research on shared economy.
  • AP: Doug wants to think about continuous value integration.
  • AP: Frank does research on meeting structures
  • AP: Matthias calls because of the w.V.: Still in progress, possibility for it to fail.

Doug: Feeling a bit tense. Would prefer to start on time if we name a time.
Frank: Confused about communication regarding cleaning kitchen. Thought that there was some conflict regarding and in the end not done.

  • Doug: Thought it was a joke about who should clean.

Bodhi: Bit tense and sick but nice cuddly morning. Leaving soon, bt would like to stay. Some conflicts with Frank have been a bit of a downer and nervous to think how it continues.

  • Frank: Same goal - way to resolve conflicts. First conflict with Bodhi in Saasen about health concerns regarding chips - I was just trying to pass on knowledge I'd learned. For example with a stew there is one step which I would miss, frying to begin with. This means that I feel excluded.

Matthias: Didn't really enjoy starting so late. Had the feeling that this would happen yesterday. A lot of talking last night, concerned that it kept Bodhi from sleeping. I really feel the need to progress and I'm motivated to do 2 hours. Finds it easy to talk to Frank about conflicts and really appreciates that.

  • Frank: I can understand that if I put out negativity that it creates the same in others - we are connected. Not happy that Bodhi gets uncomfortable when I'm angry. However, do want to address conflicts and not keep them wrapped up.

Doug: goes over yesterday meeting outcomes. Basic decision-making process, conceptual group, list of topics...
Doug: We've talked about group meetings, but people do things as individuals and subgroups. How can people be autonomous/self-determined and part of a collective? Network embassy SF have no central meetings but using mindfullness/mental-models and a message boards.

  • Matthias: Interesting approach and worth considering since a lot of informal interactions. However, for changing people a point of synchronization is useful.

Frank: Zukunft had 'emo-plenum' which was highly recommended.
Doug: The idea of obligatory meetings is like obligatory voting - don't want people to complain afterwards but be involved. Good to make meetings desirable to be in.
Bodhi: Think it's really important for people to be there to get the same information.

  • Doug: Coordination can be synchronous or asynchronous.

Frank: At Zukunft you can keep a record of things to bring to meeting. Written communication is important.
Doug: Individual action really important for me to be autonomous. Conflict resolution/doocracy/
Matthias: 'Please stop if you're asked to'

  • Bodhi: What if water comes into the building and there are different opinions, but doing nothing is worst?
  • Frank: Always exceptions to rules...
  • Doug: 'Please stop if you're asked to'
  • Bodhi: In Baddu police called in the chaos... what should be done?

Recapping "paid labour in the Wupphaus" reading out the minutes in https://yunity.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=88368209
Main problems: Using the space/house but earning private money for future use? Having no more time left for the house?

Bodhi sees the house as a place for activists, not people who want to enjoy their free time while working the rest of the time
Doug wants to not come to a conclusion on that topic early. Wants to be in such a house to contribute to himself, the house/community as well as the rest of the world (in equal parts). No interest in having all people there being equal (thoughts, clothes, etc.). Money is a different topic.
The time money relationship needs to be kept in mind (high vs low hourly wages). How to value moneywise vs timewise contributions to the project? Doesn't want people coming there neither giving money, time, energy, love to the project.
The house should not become a dependency for people (let them leave without ability to take anything out)

Matthias: Explained earlier consent to donate all earned money (except a very limited minimum) to the house. Explains that he now disagrees to that because it takes away a lot of individual freedom. People should keep the responsibility to act how they feel fits but intentions and vision of the house should be clear and if any discomfort comes up it should be talked about. Would personally not use the house to just work a lot to stack private money.

Frank: Agrees to matthias last points. Would engage in conversation about needs for the project. Feels the need to get a job to have some basic money, job would need to be very eco-friendly.

Bodhi wants to to more research on shared economy. Might be lot easier to implement this from the beginning on.

Doug: Put money away in a "sandbox" - money is not the issue. Focus on contributions for themselves/community/society. Can already see conflicts on acknowledging contributions of others to society. Money masks a lot of problems (though seems to  take away conflicts).

Bodhi: A part of the shared economy is also sharing responsibilities (phone contract example: If people need a phone contract, there will be someone who gets the appropriate/cheap one for everyone who needs)

talk about the example of spending a bigger amount of shared money for an individual (e.g. training). Doug thinks, this resolves down to the use of a scarce resource.

4pm meeting, Bodhi Frank Matthias Doug

Outcomes:

  • AP: Bodhi looks into options for ownership of property for foreign countries legal entities.
  • AP: Matthias calls GLS to check about how long it takes to have an account there
  • AP: Matthias, Doug and Bodhi read through the satzung again

Tool for action points?
Community building by Susanne - what should we communicate to her? (People etc.) - who should be able to participate?
Talking about how to join the community. Example jahnishausen: Being guests for some months, then a plenum will be held where new members express their feelings and after a one-year trial period they can get full member.

The house should have parts with passive inclusion but to become a group member, active inclusion sounds more likely.
Maybe have technical as well as social handbook for the house so people can get information to integrate much easier.

More talks about the connection legal / social members

Ideas & Visions about the project:
Frank: Still the idea of having a place for developers to live (e.g. expressed in the name developia). All the other stuff should be build around a developer space (sports room, nice vegan food, ...). Have a place where people can learn programming, just come by with their laptops, stick to the rules and start working. Has ideas for creative projects he wants to do also. Sticks to the idea of doing a multi sharing platform. Wants to do support (connection between technology and human). Connect nature and humanity through technology.
Doug: Wants a place to be able to live to his full potential. Having access to people, technology, resources, being in europe. Envisions this to be more than just us. Build our utopia first, then help others to get that as well.
Bodhi: Agrees to Doug and frank. Emphasis on outside acceptance/reflection. Wants people not to leave again. Workshops, working/coding spaces. Allow people do stuff to make the world a better place, having cool projects around the house to work on ecological alternatives.

Frank expresses the need to have rules for use of drugs.

Doug wanders what we actually want to find out when talking about needs/wants/values/visions:
    Why am I doing?
    What are my needs?
    Dreams?

    personal reflection?
    timeline?
    meditation?
    dream combining

Matthias: Using these questions to form a common basis, a written down statement on what the house is about.
