2017-01-05 First visit
On January 5th 2017 at 9am a group of yuniteers (Bodhi Neiser, Matthias Larisch, Laurina, Philip Engelbutzeder, Janina Abels and Lara Earthling) met Michel, Roman and Corinna from the Haus- und WagenRat, hwr. They support us in the process of finding a WuppHouse and are very interested to take the two objects out of the housing market anyways.
We visited two houses. Two neighboring multi-family houses. GDR style, grey from the outside. They each have 3-5 apartments, there is a small garden behind the houses, sadly not with a lot of sun. The houses are ready to move in. They cost 20.000€ each and provide approximately 200 m² of space plus a big and a small attic each. Most of the flooring is PVC with timber piling underneath (in some places additional wood that makes it hard to reuse the timber piling)
One of the houses has a central gas heating system that was checked last in 2014, so we assume it is working, the other house has all the installations but is missing the central heating piece.
Hot water is generated decentrally with gas or electricity, some heaters are in place.
Wurzen as a city is quite nice, 15 minutes from Leipzig with the S2 or the RE. It used to have a quite strong right wing scene which is still there but is declining. There is a lot of empty houses and empty shops in the city and a nice market place. We also visited the interesting association called Netzwerk für Demokratische Kultur, NDK (network for democratic culture) that has room, dreams and wants good things for the city, similar to our spirit.
