2016-09-19 Welcoming round at Wuppbreak
Scheduled due to demand for a "welcome" or explanation on yunity so that newer members can have an overview of projects and feel invited to share intents/visions/thoughts with older members.
People present: lara, Douglas Webb, Selina Camile, Adrean Liegel, Tilmann, Anna O'Neill, Paul Free, fritz holscher, Marius, Arno Döpper, Olli, Pia, Kasper, Katya, Cilla
Minute taking: Anna O'Neill
We asked each other our intentions for the meeting:
- to know more about yunity
- sharing interests, ideas, motivations, helping those to fit in with yunity
- different views of life, motivations of life, newer peoples idea of yunity
- share the ideas of people who have been longer in the project. An overview of what people have been doing so far
- share relativey new experience of getting involved with yunity
- understand rhythms of new people; connect ideas together. Find out some other things to do.
- listening
- share story and hear other stories. be inspired and feel empowered
Therefore we conclude there are two general intentions:
- overview of yunity/projects
- finding out peoples interests/motivations
1) Tilmann - presentation of an overview of yunity
* FSINT
* Community tour
* Sys con group: desicion making
* platform: development and design of sharing everything
- finding developers - Code-training
* practical pooling functions: in real life and online organisation
* Networking: bring similar projects together e.g. on wiki
* Wupphouse: finding a permanent place where we can live/work together
* Movement: expand network to different places; empower other people to start yunity projects/events
* Social: offline/online
* Everything in yunity is certified amazing.
2) Anna: my experience so far in yunity (from the perspective of being fairly recently involved)
* how my personal vision developed
* how delving into personal philosophy and those of others was important
* observing that everyone is diverse, has their own perspective on yunity
* My own interests are researching health promotion concepts that relate to communities/sharing (salutogenesis)
and actively being involved with connection/building bridges/communication
* currently working on presentation and possible wiki page on health/wellbeing, and
also thinking about tools for communicating to different members of society (specifically pamphlet on critisms of "sharing economy/culture" and how these
can be addressed - need help in writing this!)
Sorry - the following stories from people are less developed that my own above as I wasn't able to take very
detailed notes during the meeting. Please edit!
3) Arno: my ackground of getting interested in yunity.
* "Nicest way of getting involved with changing the world"
* environmental background
* Experiences in athens, greece
* interested in political approaches to change the world
4) Katya: my background of getting involved in yunity
* Observed negative sides of capitilism - mental health, jobs, consumerism
* Interested in natural healing: yoga, meditation - enhance well being
* Interested in spreading vision to different worlds that are not as easily convinced
* invite people to yunity
* social experiments e.g. giving stuff to people
* interested in permaculture; changing our production of food (instead of solely food saving)
* interested in spreading sharing.
* sees boycotting as effective
* would like to do a yunity tour (not now, next year) - spreading the life of sharing.
5) Paul: how did I get here?
* interested in following intentions
* highly interested in travelling (for next 3-5 years)
* creating networks of resources and needs meeting
* creating events of sharing
* creating agile networks
* breaking down group structure
* searching for a nicer word than revolution - wants to start an "action" within 5 years.
* governance tools and taking over governance
* interested in making a movie/documentary about community development/creative action
* gardening. everywhere should have free gardens.
* breaking down borders
6) Doug: what is my story?
* role of family
* activity in Edinburgh
* observation: groups made best actions when connected together.
* interested in connection
* motivating individuals to be empowered
* how can we scale past smaller systems (e.g. 30 in one house) to larger scale
- organise the group, tools for meetings, be as awesome as possible
* also writing a book on sys con
Fritz: a question posed
"What if every problem that society has - can be scaled down to small groups. how do we tackle this?"
Answer: Observe patterns and change within
Doug: looking at cleaning patterns would be good starting point
Arno: changing definition of clean
Doug: that is ignoring the problem
7) Lara: my story, interests and motivations
* Snowball of thoughts/change of lifestyle
* changed a lot in last year (started sharing things, very active in foodsharing, starting DIY lifestyle, eating wild herbs). Stopped studying to be with yunity
* Vision: connect people in next few years to build villages - permaculture, self sufficient (independent of the system).
* Interests: healing, eating from the nature, shamanism,
Eco-basa.org (suggested by paul)
* Wants to travel to connect and also spend time on self sufficient communities
8) Cilla
* Wants to clarify own vision
* hard to share vision until clarified this
* wants to observe the group
Tilmann: wish to have a list of priorities so that people can see what everyone is interested in! (good idea)
Going back to first intention of meeting (overview of yunity): Some people want to know more about "FSINT tours".
Tilmann: some information on wiki. Janina is in Warsaw, starting the tours - connecting with foodsharing there. Tilmann also wants
to find out infromation/updates from both Copenhagan and Rotterdam.
There are also communities asking us to help them with starting food sharing.
Some connections also to France.
We have to decide which places we want to travel to. The places are listed on wiki.
We need to contact them about accomodation, what tools are needed.
Arno: more about talking about foodsharing in different areas and seeing who approaches/motivated. Less about implementing and leaving
Doug: interested in finding out what went wrong with foodsharing.de, interested in tools that you can bring to others. Interested in
knowing how the FSINT people will encourage self organisation. Observed that hierarchy is entrenched in foodsharing in germany and the problems this brings
Arno: when we tour we will be talking about yunity, self orgsanisation, sys con etc etc not just focusing on foodsaving
Anna: this is where the two trains of thought for tours overlap. The "tours" are diverse and may not be able to be defined, different visions, strategies, people.
Fritz: what is important for me is travelling to support, strength, fuse communities; empowering commuinties. Then FS becomes easier to implent. We can have many groups
and what is important to me is to be comfortable in group you are travelling with.
e.g. Janina felt comfortable going alone to Warsaw. Some other people might feel comfortable going alone to places, observing.
Its nescessary to find others with common vision, time, goals, wants and form groups.
Doug: to comment on something that people have brought up in the past: Not taking part in tours but I not worried about "telling people what to do" -
I believe you are all mindful, using good language; not "implemeting"
Tilmann: worried about impatience and its impacts - could be result of difference in strategies e.g. dreaming/planning.
There will be another presentation/discussion later in the day talking about reflections to travelling in group that may
appeal to those wanting to go on "tour" - of any kind.
Conclusion:
Met the initial intentions of meeting
Would be nice to store our visions, intentions, projects in one place
