Day One Pt.2

The general idea of the process used is to come to the concrete via the abstract. By answering the deep questions of personal identity first, we hope to come to an idea of group identity automatically.

Specification of the topic

We are going to talk about identity, what does that mean?

Identity is the sum of all that makes me.

Brainstorming:
something to hold on to, set yourself into contrast to
roles and our picture of them
point of intersection of thoughts
what characterizes me? boxes?
good, to know such things about oneself
doesn't have to be constrained
values, behaviour patterns
everything that makes yourself
for the state - in order to give you number and name
how do I identify myself?
when do I identify myself with a group? With witch groups?

Self perception

→ is important in order to know what I am doing
→and to know the consequences

made from:
inner and outer processes→experience→ habits→ Patterns→ Role

Problems:
if you don't know your identity: behaviour pattern not actively chosen and not thought through
overidentification, trying to clasp onto it even though you have already changed

Possibilities:
regular questionning of identity helps to stay adaptable
