Licensing
Backend
Currently (2016-10-27) the backend code is licensed under AGPL-3.0. This license was selected by the consent of Tilmann, Matthias Larisch and Michael Dougherty during the first WuppDays.
Announced on Slack, #general by Tilmann B. on 2015-10-09
Today we want to decide on a license for the source code of yunity. After a short discussion including me, @matthias and @michael, we propose the GNU AGPL 3.0.
The main reasons for this choice were:
- Disclosure of source code required upon distribution
- Further distribution under same conditions
- Includes network use (if someone uses our backende [sic] code on his own server, it counts as distribution)
- Any improvements made by third parties thus have to be made available to the public
The license and a summary can be found here:

Media files like pictures, logos and frontend will be put under a different license, which can be chosen later.
Frontend
The frontend is licensed under MIT. There was no resistance among the contributors at the time of decision.
To the extent possible under law, the yunity wiki contributors have waived all copyright and related or neighboring rights to the content of the yunity wiki. More information...
