Version 1 Current »

We currently use electricity from Reik. There is approximately 150 metres of wire before it gets to our house.

Fusing

We are connected to a B16 fuse behind a 30 mA RCD. The first cable drum in the way, in the trees between Reik and us, has a (resettable) fuse as well that blows quite often at light loads (9A/2000W for some minutes).

Grounding problem

We have an earth-shift of approximately 60-90V that cannot be avoided in this setup. Touching earth is not dangerous but also not nice.

Also, the RCD is more likely to blow than under normal circumstances. Unfortunately, there is no way of prevention (and putting a second fusebox in our house would not help as it is not possible to reliably only blow our second fuse and not the first one).

Try not to blow the RCD: Stay away from ground connected devices if possible, do not spill water over cable drums/outlets.
